Carol Kowalski
Financial Assistant

Why you want to talk to her:

  • Financial Administration | You need some guidance because preparing a budget or managing tax exempt statuses strikes fear in your soul.
  • Tax Preparation | You want to know what paperwork for your ministry you need to keep track of during the year to be ready for taxes.
  • General Support and Understanding | You would like someone to explain to your board what the DMB is and why it’s important to keep in your budget.

Carol comes to the Midwest District team from the world of tax preparation and church bookkeeping (and a few other things on the side). In fact, she still lives in that world so you have a fellow soldier-in-arms serving with you at the district office. Carol is a prime example of someone using their gifts and strengths in all areas of her life. When she heard that the district was in search of a new bookkeeper, she heard a call to ministry. Sure, it was more of what she does in the professional capacity, and some would consider her job boring and monotonous; but her heart to serve Christ’s kingdom far outshines her outstanding aptitude for the job. Carol brings a sense of adventure and expectation to her role, knowing she is resourcing her very own Midwest District family and is ready to see this family respond to God with even greater expectation.

In her personal life, Carol is a proud grandmother, a faithful member of Canaan Community Church in Coatesville, Indiana, and a loyal friend to so many. Among those circles she is famous for giving gifts and GIFS to her grandkids, finding a bargain almost anywhere, being creatively crafty, and giving away 50 pounds of fudge at Christmas.

To Carol, family is important. Period. And God is everything. Period. She and her husband, Ron, had lost siblings and parents by the time they were forty, and God continually fills the gap in those losses. That’s what gets Carol through her current trials. “He sees the big picture, and I can only see this little tiny knot. He makes everything make sense, even if I can’t see where He is leading, I have faith that He will make sense of it,” Carol explains. “That’s why praise is so important and integral in my worship. Worship music is prayer to me and helps me ‘pray without ceasing’, as there is always a song in my head and heart.”

Carol has Isaiah 40:31 on about every wall in her house, as well as images of eagles. She testifies that she is capable only because she turns to God and he lifts her up as on the wings of eagles. A year ago, had she heard what she’d be doing she would have been highly dubious. “It’s God’s job to know what’s going to happen and get me where I need to be.”
