The first worship service of Bloomingdale Alliance Church took place on April 2, 1978. David and Marina Riemenschneider came from Colorado to be the church planters of the envisioned congregation. Dale and Ruth (deceased) Waterman came alongside them to help plant this church. Dale continues to serve and worship at Bloomingdale Alliance Church.
In celebration of 45 years of ministry, the church family did two of their favorite things: minister together and eat together.
To celebrate their anniversary, Bloomingdale Alliance Church hosted an outreach event with an open house at the church’s new Hope Center (formerly the District Office). Hope Center is being used for people in the community who may not be comfortable coming to a church building by offering GriefShare, Legal Services, Divorce Care, CAP Money Course, 12-Step Recovery Group, Life Coaching Group, etc.
The celebration weekend culminated with a celebration featuring ministry booths and a delicious dinner served by Holy Smokes BBQ with a dessert.
Bloomingdale’s 45-year history is beautifully captured as a photo and video timeline, Bloomingdale Church Story (watch here). There is one point where even the children are helping with a ground breaking, illustrating that the church exists for everyone!
Gifts are a common theme for celebrations such as anniversaries. This celebration weekend was also used to announce that Bloomingdale Church’s Easter Passion Project gave 50k to fund sixteen special projects for our international workers across the world—some of whom did home service at Bloomingdale Church!
What a great impact Bloomingdale Church has had for the past 45 years and continues to have in helping people know Jesus Christ as Lord by being a worshiping, praying, learning, caring, and outreaching community.
