Missions is Important

The Alliance family is unique in that it accomplishes the Great Commission together. The local church equips, sends, and cares for our workers around the world, who then bring back encouragement and inspiration that mobilizes the local church to reach their own community. We are a family that cares for each other and works together to reach our Jerusalem, Judea, Samaria, AND the ends of the earth together so that every man, woman, and child has access to Jesus.

We are also unique in the fact that we go to Unreached People Groups – pockets of peoples where you would have to knock on 30,000 doors before you found someone who has heard about Jesus. The Alliance is dedicated to providing gospel access to the least reached peoples of the world so that every nation, tribe, and language has access to Jesus through every means possible.

What is Alliance Missions?

Alliance Missions leverages four specialized structures to advance the gospel. Each has unique purpose and each is equally important to seeing gospel access for and from all peoples. This allows more room for more Alliance people to be more involved in Alliance missions than ever before!

Coming Alongside You

Missions engagement is more than an event.

It’s more than posters on the church wall and an international potluck. It’s a deeply held Alliance value. It’s what sets us apart as a Christ-centered, Acts 1:8 family that reaches Jerusalem and Judea and Samaria and the ends of the earth. We do it together. It’s the DNA Jesus breathed into us when He called us to join Him in completing The Great Commission.

The Great Commission Fund

The Great Commission Fund (GCF) is the singular privilege of the Alliance family – to all give to one fund (even from the smallest church) that then sends out more than 700 workers all around the world to bring gospel access and discipleship training to the least reached segments of God’s creation. In this way, we push back the darkness together while focusing on our unique callings and giftings.

Within Our District

ENVISION Chicago

Chicago has about 3 million people within its city limits, and it has an overall church attendance that is lower than the national average. We, as the church in the United States, must not neglect ministering to the people who are closest to us; especially if those people have never heard about the saving message of the gospel of Jesus Christ.

Envision Chicago is a diverse, incarnational ministry strategically located in the inner city of Chicago with two ministry hubs: Family Empowerment Center and South Asian Friendship Center. Both ministries offer service opportunities short-term teams, internships, and weekend volunteer opportunities.

Family Empowerment Center

Because it is our mission to compassionately love and serve our neighbors with a focus on the less-resourced families of our community, we devote ourselves to providing services that will enable those in our community to take their next steps. There are more than 40 primary languages spoken in our community. Some of these languages represent people groups who are considered “unreached” by the gospel of Christ. We provide out-of-school programming to ensure children are served well and parents can work with peace of mind. We offer classes for English language learners so that they will have the skills they need to work, to advocate for their families, and to assimilate into their community successfully.

These programs, along with many other programs and available services, are the ways that we are creating opportunities for all people within our community. In this way, we hope to bring balance to systemic injustices and inequalities that exist. We believe that when an opportunity is matched with people’s desire to change, they are more likely to overcome negative circumstances in their lives and experience freedom and hope. People who experience freedom in their life journey often live in that freedom and help others rise as well.

South Asian Friendship Center

We are located in the heart of Chicago’s Little India — an ethnically diverse neighborhood of people from India and Pakistan, as well as from Bangladesh, Nepal and Afghanistan. Our community is comprised of many Muslims and Hindus, Sikhs, Jews, Christians, and more. The South Asian Friendship Center is a place of welcome for the people of Chicago’s Little India. SAFC is where tutoring, ESL, youth and kids’ clubs, conversation and women’s luncheons happen. We extend our hand in friendship to the Devon Avenue community with the message of the Lord Jesus Christ, and love people of all ethnicities and religions. Our resource center offers Christian literature and media in a number of South Asian languages free of charge.
