Accreditation

What is accreditation?

Think of accreditation as finding your fit with the right organization, specifically The Alliance.  We want to get a wholistic view of your readiness for ministry, generally and in the C&MA.  We also want you to discover if you align with our family values and doctrine?

Know that this process begins a 2-3 year development path where we pour into you with a whole-life philosophy so that you will thrive in your spiritual journey and in your ministry assignments.

What does accreditation involve?

The accreditation process will include:

  • A conversation with district staff to discern your call to ministry.
  • A brief Next Steps application, which includes:
    • Contact info and marital status
    • One pastoral reference
    • Several “get to know you” questions (testimony and experience)
  • The district will then direct you to a more extensive online application, which includes open-ended questions:
(Plan for a minimum of six hours or multiple sessions to complete each section.)

    • Contact and family info
    • Release of records (permission to run a background check, transcript submission)
    • Doctrinal questions
    • Fit with Alliance characteristics
    • Multiple choice Bible knowledge exam
    • Character references
  • Interview with our district licensing body (expect 2-3 hours).

What's next?

Following the interview with our district licensing body, you will receive your next steps to continue formal ministry readiness.  In some cases, it will involve more development, and in some cases it will result in a licensed ministry position. Accreditation provides you the opportunity to seek a pastoral ministry position with any of our churches within the Alliance Midwest District as you interact with the our district superintendent.

Even without placement in an Alliance ministry, you can complete the Alliance Polity Course which is the next requirement towards licensing with the C&MA. To enroll in this course you will need a district assigned mentor.  Please contact the district office if you are interested in taking this step.

Please note that for various reasons, not everyone is approved for vocational service with the C&MA, but we desire to help you find your place in God’s work. For questions regarding the application process, please contact the district office.
