Colleen joins our district staff new to the Alliance, but not new to Indiana or Illinois! She was raised in Illinois, graduated from Olivet Nazarene University with a degree in Social Work and a minor in Criminal Justice. Colleen now lives in nearby Brownsburg, IN. Her professional experience includes administration in Human Resources and working as Assistant Director for a nonprofit faith-based pregnancy resource center in Bloomington, IL. Title IX due diligence, database management, volunteer onboarding, and donor management (including fundraising events) are examples of her diligence at work and heart to move the mission forward of those she works with.
The district is delighted to welcome Colleen’s attention to details and her heartfelt care for people in her new role of administration and communication. Colleen will be taking care of hospitality for district gatherings, keeping our district family informed with relevant updates and required reporting, and ensuring that our databases are up-to-date and helpful for all involved, as well as assisting the district office with administrative tasks as needed.
Colleen comes from a close-knit family and loves that she’s able to be close to her sister’s family in Brownsburg. She has two adorable nephews that have so many questions for her about leaving the house for work (her brother-in-law has a work-from-home role). In addition to lovingly answering their endless questions, Colleen enjoys reading. She alternates between fiction and non-fiction, and always has a “Bible commentary adjacent” book to grow her understanding and appreciation of Scripture.
Colleen moved to Indiana from Illinois as an act of faith. In hearing her story, it reminds one of Abraham’s call to the place God had yet to show him. There wasn’t a lot of “why” behind the move, just the call to obedience and trust. A few months after the move, it became more apparent how intimately God was involved in the details of that move, caring not only for Colleen but also her family members. While moving away from her local church family was difficult, she is encouraged by the Lord’s faithfulness to her and those she loves, and to be stepping into an organization that considers itself family.
Her new church is currently studying Hebrews 11, which is one of her favorite chapters in the Bible. It hasn’t escaped Colleen’s notice that it was “by faith” that each person’s story “landed” in that chapter. God fulfilled all His promises, even though with some it wasn’t observed in their lifetime. Nevertheless, He still made the promise and fulfilled it. Colleen shared that Jeremiah 29:13 has always resonated with her, “You will seek me and find me when you seek with all your heart,” and it’s in the context of God declaring that He will fulfill His good promise (verse 10). And God cannot lie! Colleen’s “by faith” move has promise in it that will be fulfilled!
