It's a Business Year!!
Below is the information you’ll need for the district superintendent election and appointing lay delegate(s) from your church.
Appointing Lay Delegates
Deadline: August 15, 2024
Since it is an election year, you have the option of appointing and sending lay delegates to district conference. A lay delegate is a non-licensed member of your congregation that will have voting privileges for the elections. These delegates are to be appointed by the local governance authority and approval must be recorded in the governing board official meeting minutes.
- Each accredited church is entitled to send two lay delegates, no matter what your church size is. If you reported your voting membership on the 2023 Annual Report to be:
- 150-250, you can send one more delegate (a total of three).
- 251-350, you can send two more delegates (a total of four).
- 351-450, you can send three more delegates (a total of five).
- Each developing and affiliated church is entitled to send one lay delegate.
If you would like to send lay delegates to district conference this year, please fill out and return the lay delegate certificate to the district office by Thursday, August 15, 2024. Please note that this requires your board meeting prior to this and submitting the appointment(s) in your official board minutes.
District Superintendent Nominations
Deadline: August 15, 2024
May 30, 2024
Dear District Family,
Thank you for your prayer support over the last number of months as we have worked through the search process of selecting a nominee for district superintendent. I would like to thank the Search Committee and the Nominating Committee for their prayerful, thoughtful efforts in this important matter.
It is the decision of the Nominating Committee to place in nomination Rev. Bob Petty for district superintendent of the Midwest District.
Please continue to pray for God’s clear direction in the matter of the upcoming election.
Every official worker or duly appointed District Conference delegate has the opportunity to place additional names in nomination for the position of district superintendent. This can be a time consuming process which includes potential nominees vetted by the vice president for Church Ministries at the National Office. If you would like to nominate someone other than Rev. Bob Petty, this process must be completed by August 15, 2024. For further explanation about that process please see “Instructions for Additional Nominees at the District Conference” below.
Sincerely,
Sonja Walker
Secretary, Nominating Committee
